Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, a Pakistani documentary film maker won the Oscar Award for her co-directed film ‘Saving Face’. The documentary film illustrates a commitment of a British Pakistani plastic surgeon to help the victims of acid attack in Pakistan. This is for the first time in 84 years of Oscar history that a Pakistani has ever won the Oscar Award. In her short message Chinoy dedicated her award to all those women back in Pakistan who did not give up despite passing through the crucible of acid attack. She thanked Dr. Javad for his dedication to heal the disfigured faces of women in Pakistan. She also thanked all her co-workers in the making of the film. The film, which has been co-directed by Daniel Junge, is due to release in March.
